Intel: Gelsinger Reportedly Goes To EMC (Update)

Gelsinger: Heading Out?

Intel (INTC) “is expected to reveal a sweeping management change on Monday,” according to the New York Times, citing “people briefed on the company’s plans.”

The piece says Pat Gelsinger, senior VP of Intel’s enterprise group, is leaving the company after 30 years to take a new job at another high-tech company.

The piece said Sean Maloney, head of sales and marketing, will take on an even larger role, with all of the company’s chip businesses reporting to him. Dadi Perlmutter, head of laptop chips, will now oversee engineering for all the chip divisions.

On Friday, Intel shares fell 25 cents, to $19.51.

UPDATE: The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Gelsinger is moving to EMC (EMC), where he will run EMC’s flagship storage-products operations and some smaller software units.
